Sujit Sinha did his M.Sc. from IIT Kanpur and Ph.D. from Princeton University, USA in Chemistry (1984). He began his career as a high school teacher in a residential school for adivasis ( indigenous people) in Arunachal Pradesh, India ( 1979-80); worked as a postdoctoral fellow at AT&T Bell Laboratories in New Jersey, USA ( 1984-86). From 1987 till 2010 he was with a rural development NGO in West Bengal working in the areas of school education, sustainable agriculture, basic preventive healthcare, women’s self-help groups, and strengthening panchayats. From 2010 Sujit has been a faculty at Azim Premji University teaching in MA Development and MA Education programs. Sujit’s main interests are Gandhi, Tagore, and their relevance today. In the last two years, along with his colleague Pallavi, he is teaching about worldwide alternatives to Industrialism through the course titled “Living Utopias” in the University; and in a 6-day workshop mode to NGO people and whoever is interested.
