Pallavi Varma Patil is a Senior lecturer with the School of Development, Azim Premji University, India. She teaches three semester wide courses involving Gandhian Alternatives and Gandhian Education titled Nai Taleem for today and Tomorrow”, “Living Utopias”, “India’s Futures” and a workshop based course called Food and Identity. Pallavi has co-authored a Gandhi Notebook primarily for young adults. She coordinated a two year farming in school experiment-The Ragi Project, in Bangalore and continues to work with educators who would like to revive Gandhian education by growing food. Pallavi studied M.A (Development Studies) at the International Institute of Social studies (ISS) , The Netherlands; M.S.W at College of Social Work, Mumbai, India and B. A – Economics (Hons) at Miranda house, Delhi University, India. She has twenty years of work experience in the development sector in India working on cross cutting issues related to children and youth, education, and ecology.
