Sonja Lokar (Women’s Lobby of Slovenia, Slovenia)
Sonja Lokar (Slovenia) is a sociologist by profession. She was a political analyst, elected party functionary, MP, civil society activist: one of the initiators of the new regional women’s peace movement before the eruption of the wars in the Balkans in the nineties, leader of several international NGOs -Executive Director of the CEE Network for Gender Issues, Chair of the Stability Pact Gender Task Force, president of the European Women’s Lobby. In the last three years, she is working as an international gender equality freelance expert, a consultant of CoE, OSCE-ODIHR, UN Women ad UNDP, and of different political foundations – LP Westminster Foundation, FES, NDI. My preferred modus operandi: bottom-up crosscutting issue coalitions.
